Up date to our doings.
Dec. 24th we left Leoti about 9:3o and drove to Emporia to Joann's with a stop at WalMarts at Great Bend. The stop was a big mistake as it was mob packed and the two items we were looking for were not to be found. Arrived at Joann & Dick's about 3;30. Also there to visit with were Kim andGreg and Carrie and Drew and their two friendly Labs, Mollie & Annie and Jo's Lab, Abby. We had good stew for supper and then went to a meaningful candle light service at their church. Their preacher remembered us from seeing us before. Christmas day we had a Wiles family dinner hosted by Jennifer and Jerry at their house at Hutchinson that Lois and Earl had not seen before. A great dinner and they have a very nice house.
Earl and Lois were introduced to a Wii that was quite a thing. Lois bowled 190 on her first try which was quite good as Earl never got that high. Lois is very good at everything she does. Carrie and Drew have a Wii and Jerry and Jennifer also had one at their house.
We went back to Emporia for the night and left there Friday for our home. We stopped at McPherson and found Margie and Les Hargadine home. We had never seen there new house and it is a very nice house. They took us to lunch and then we had a very windy drive on home with the Good Lord watching over us we made it home safely. Our Love to all from Earl & Lois

Towers Going Up
Joann is trying to teach us how to add pictures on the blog. She's a good teacher but I don't know about me as a student.
Here's a new wind tower going up near Marienthal.

Back Again!
Hi everybody and a big Thank You to each one that thought of me on my special day that took 85 years to make that one come by. Thanks Jennifer for the phone call from a beach on the Hawaiin Island where you were playing as it was quite special to Grandpa.
Thanks to Dorie and Gary and Wes for their card and letter. Wes, I was very fortunate to get Laura Clock's book Cabin And A Clothesline that was given to Kenneth Hooker by Charlott Cholas in August of 2007. I think maybe she was a daughter of Laura Clock but that may be wrong. Kenneth had loaned the book to me and then later to Bob. After Kenneth died I asked Dale Appl, the executor, if I could have the book and he did give it to me. The book has a 2002 copyright. I assume Wes has this book. Kenneth seemed to think there was another book published before this one but he could not put a name to it.
Lois keeps busy going to various meetings and working sometimes at the Thrift Shop and Earl just hangs around here and there doing nothing important as that is about all he is good for. All you young people take care of your bodies and maybe you will not have aches and pains when you get older. I sure hope you don't anyway.

Our Happenings
We have kept busy today. First, we got up by CST instead of CDST. Earl is too set in his ways to believe in Daylight Savings Time. Then we went to church and they had communion. We came home to one of Lois's fabulous lunches with minute steak covered with mushroom soup gravy and a mandarin orange jello salad and pork and beans and little tomatoes and strawberry shortcake with whipped topping. No wonder Earl can't lose weight.
We went to Alma Campos 80th birthday party at the senior center, next we went to the hospital to visit our next door neighbor. Our church had the service at the long term care center today so we attended that. Now we're at home for a supper sandwich and then we'll go to the fitness center for our exercise time.
We are having nice weather for rowcrop harvest and hope it stays that way for another 10 days. Earl mowed the lawn yesterday for what might be the last time this year.
We had about 40 trick or treaters for Halloween which we enjoyed seeing. Lane was dressed up like a doctor, with his white coat and a tie and a stethacope around his neck and he sure looked professional. Earl tried to get him to listen to his heart but Lane didn't think that was necessary.
Love to all of you.

BUSY
Earl is real busy by starrting out in the morning with nothing to do and only get half of that done and leaving half for the next day. I usually go across the street to the Agri Supply place from 8 to 9 in the morninng and visit with 6 or 8 friends and maybe pick up some local news and go to Hayes Sales & service in the evening and pick up some more news.
We both try to make it to the Fitness Center sometime in the day and go 30 minutes on a Nu-Step machine as they have two of them and we try to make it when someone else is not there.
Lois works at the Thrift Shop maybe a couple times a month and usually brings home some nice clothes or some other valuable loot. She also goes to Strong Woman exercise three times a week.
We try to take in any home team activities with grandkids or great grandkids playing.
We are really thankfull for 2.20" of gentle rain this past weekend and Monday. Sure glad it was rain instead of snow. Enough goofy palaver and hope nobody gets bored reading this.
Love to all. I do joyride around in the Granada occasionally.

Monday
Our rain gauge here in town has ninety hundredths in it. We only had a quarter of an inch in it at dark last evening so it rained during the night . I did not get any report from the farm when I called so do not know what it rained out there. We had a terrific wind in the night Saturday night and have not heard if it damaged the row crop. All of you people farther east probably sneer at our amount of rain but ninety hundredths is a big rain for here>!!!

Saturday!
Saturday here at 46 degrees and overcast and time to mow the lawn sometime today. Leoti won their football game at Sublette last night to make them four wins in a row which has not happened for a long time. Paige has a cc at Lakin this morning and hope it goes good for her.
